Our Story
Columbia Road location
Columbia Road location

W e are proud to be independently owned and family operated since our begining in 1896. We have been providing continuous service to families of all faiths in the surrounding communities for over 118 years.

W. Hampton “Hampy” Dukes established a funeral business, Dukes Undertaking, on St. John Street, Orangeburg, in 1896. In 1927, a cousin, Clifton Harley, joined Hampy Dukes, and then in 1930, his brother, I.S. Harley, joined the business which became Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. They moved to Russell Street in 1936 and continued to operate the family business. In 1980, A.J. Hutto, Jr., a nephew of the Harleys, purchased the business and has carried on the family business ever since. After a fire destroyed the home on Russell Street in 1999, a new home was opened in 2002 on Columbia Road.

We offer a full selection of traditional funeral services, as well as a variety of cremation options. We are the only full service cremation provider in the Orangeburg and Calhoun County areas, with a crematory on our premises.
